The world united in a powerful display of peace and collaboration as the World Scout Conference brought together 2,000 delegates and observers from more than 170 countries. This event was a testament to the strength and impact of Scouting as one of the most significant youth movements globally.
Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, praised the Scouts, stating, “Scouts are a great example of young people making a difference. World Scouting is one of the most important youth movements. You focus on empowering young people, encouraging global cooperation in facing big challenges, and working hard for your communities, supporting the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
Approval of the next strategy for Scouting
The conference marked a significant milestone with the unanimous approval of the next Strategy for Scouting. The vision for the coming decade is clear: Scouting aims to be the world’s most inspiring and inclusive youth movement, offering powerful learning experiences to every young person, everywhere. The movement is committed to fostering a peaceful and inclusive world, free from discrimination, where everyone has equal and safe opportunities.
Shaping the future through Scouting
Scouting is set to play a crucial role in shaping a future where young people are empowered to be barrier-breakers, bridge-builders, informed decision-makers, and responsible citizens. These individuals will gain the core skills and values through Scouting. Furthermore, Scouting will build strong communities by equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to adapt to, mitigate, and take action on climate change. As a movement, Scouting will lead by example, promoting environmental sustainability and climate resilience, positively impacting both locally and globally.
Meaningful engagement throughout the conference
Throughout the conference, every moment was filled with meaningful engagement. The Jamboree Planning Team participated in key meetings with leaders of National Scout Organizations, the World Scout Committee, and the World Scout Bureau. We also had the privilege of engaging with the UN Foundation and participating in the World Scout Foundation gathering.
Looking ahead to the 26th World Scout Jamboree
One of the highlights was the release of the official registration opening for the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027 and “Jamboree Design Guidelines”. Our partners—the Pomorskie Region, and the City of Gdańsk joined us in these discussions, emphasizing the importance of strong cooperation between all stakeholders in preparing for the Jamboree.
