The Polish delegation, which included members of the WSJ2027 Planning Team: co-leaders of the water module “River,” Rafał Klepacz and Magdalena Szwarczyńska, as well as instructors Wiktor Wróblewski and Dominika Barańska, presented the initial plans for the water programme at the Jamboree. During a dedicated workshop session, they explored various ways in which Sea Scouts from different countries could get involved. Ideas included managing marinas, providing expertise in sailing, kayaking, and water safety, and recruiting skippers and lifeguards. Some nations expressed interest in taking responsibility for entire marinas during the Jamboree, contributing their own boats and teams.
An exciting opportunity was also raised by Finland’s Satahanka 2025 organisers, who proposed testing some of the land-based Jamboree activities at their Sea Scout gathering, to refine them before 2027. The seminar allowed for deeper collaboration, with numerous delegates showing enthusiasm for joining the Jamboree effort.
The Belgian delegation led discussions on the “Scout Armada,” a tradition of Scout boats sailing together to Jamborees. It was agreed that two flotillas, one from western Europe and one from eastern Europe, would likely sail to Gdańsk, meeting before arriving at Sobieszewo Island. The Armada will provide a unique experience for Scouts travelling by boat and help with the Jamboree’s water programme, where some boats will be used for activities.
Aside from Jamboree planning, the EuroSea seminar featured discussions on risk management during water activities, sustainable development in Sea Scouting, and innovative training methods for Sea Scout units. The event was also an opportunity for participants to build relationships through shared activities, such as sailing, rowing, and lifesaving drills.
In addition, the seminar saw the election of the new “Odysseus Group,” responsible for leading Sea Scouting in Europe for the next two years. The 2026 EuroSea seminar was awarded to the Netherlands, continuing the tradition of fostering collaboration among Sea Scouts across the continent.
As the World Scout Jamboree 2027 approaches, the strong involvement of European Sea Scouts is set to enhance the event, making the water programme a central and exciting part of the Jamboree experience.
