Jamboree Bulletin Goes Digital

For the first time in Jamboree history, the Official Bulletin has transitioned into an interactive online platform using Confluence, a collaborative workspace that enables dynamic knowledge sharing and project management. This move marks a significant upgrade in how we distribute essential information for the Jamboree.

Why Confluence?

Confluence provides a versatile environment where teams can collaborate in real-time, update information instantly, and access the latest data from anywhere. It’s more than just a document repository; it’s a tool designed for seamless communication and efficiency. Generously provided by Confluence as a part of their contribution for non-profit organizations, this platform is crucial for managing the complex logistics of information of the Jamboree. Our team of 185 volunteers from 40 countries is already utilising it to document work and streamline coordination across different departments.

PDFs Generated Directly from the Platform

One of the key benefits of using Confluence is the ability to generate PDF documents directly from the platform. This feature significantly reduces the workload for our creative teams and designers, allowing for cost-effective resource allocation. It also ensures that important information is consistently formatted and easily accessible.

Interactive Repository with Traditional Options

The digital platform offers real-time updates and broad accessibility while still allowing users to download traditional PDF files for offline use. This ensures that all participants can access the information in the format that suits them best.

Building a Culture of Knowledge Management

Transitioning the Official Bulletin to the platform is part of a larger initiative to foster a culture of knowledge management within the Scouting community. The “Knowledge Base” serves as a living, evolving resource, supporting the Jamboree by promoting transparency, collaboration, and efficiency.

Language Options

The Bulletin is available in English and French, the official languages of WOSM. Additionally, Spanish and Arabic versions, which are working languages, will also be made available. This multilingual approach ensures that the Bulletin is accessible to a broader audience, reflecting the global nature of the Jamboree.

Alignment with Global Strategy

This process aligns with the draft World Events Strategy, a key topic of discussion at the upcoming World Scout Conference in Cairo. We’re excited to contribute to this global dialogue and to demonstrate how modern tools can elevate the planning and execution of large-scale events.

Acknowledging Our Volunteers

This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our Jamboree Team volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to set up and populate the “Knowledge Base” platform. Their efforts have been instrumental in making this vision a reality, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to refine and expand the Jamboree platform, we are confident it will become an essential tool for managing information for National Contingents.
