Role Description

Job title: Co-Lead Waste Management, Jamboree Site Department

Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract

Duration: From January 2025 until the end of the project in December 2027.

The Jamboree Site Department is tasked with the spatial planning of the World Scout Jamboree site on Sobieszewo Island in Gdansk. The team will coordinate the preparation of the site plan, in collaboration with the Jamboree architect and industry specialists, and will agree on a plan for the built, run and decommissioning phases of the Jamboree Site. The Jamboree Site will be prepared in accordance with WOSM guidelines and consider solutions related to the Jamboree Organization’s environmental obligations. Water, Power, Network, Waste, Warehouse, Tents and Site Layout are the focus areas for the Jamboree Site Department.

The Waste Management Section will be responsible for all waste management activities at the World Scout Jamboree. This includes developing and implementing waste reduction strategies, coordinating recycling and composting programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

· Expertise in setting up and managing recycling and composting programs, with knowledge of various recyclable materials and composting techniques.

· Experience in procurement and managing tender processes.

· Experience in managing large temporary events.

Applicants from Poland for this role should meet the following requirements:

· Membership of the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP)

· Having completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner

· Positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic)

· Ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English

 

Applicants from abroad for this role should meet the following requirements:

· Membership of one of the organizations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)

· A favorable opinion from their International Commissioner

· Positive experience of major events at international level

· Ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English
