Job title: Co-Lead Water and Sanitation, Jamboree Site Department

Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract

Duration: From January 2025 until the end of the project in December 2027.

The Jamboree Site Department is tasked with the spatial planning of the World Scout Jamboree site on Sobieszewo Island in Gdansk.

The Jamboree Site Department will coordinate the preparation of the site plan, in collaboration with the Jamboree architect and industry specialists, and will agree on a plan for the built, run and decommissioning phases of the Jamboree Site. The Jamboree Site will be prepared in accordance with WOSM guidelines and consider solutions related to the Jamboree Organization’s environmental obligations. Water, Power, Network, Waste, Warehouse, Tents and Site Layout are the focus areas for the Jamboree Site Department.

What you should expect

The Water and Sanitation section is responsible for all aspects of water supply and sanitation at the World Scout Jamboree. This includes managing clean water distribution, sewage systems, toilets, showers, and water taps. The section ensures that all facilities are safe, hygienic, and meet the needs of both Jamboree participants and the Jamboree organization. Leads of this department will also cooperate with Sustainability Department to create the most sustainable Water solutions.

Applicant Profile

Applicants from Poland for this role should meet the following requirements:

  • membership of the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP)
  • completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner
  • positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic)
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English

  • membership of one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
  • a favourable opinion from their International Commissioner
  • positive experience of major events at international level
