Title: Technical Expert (Armada Coordinator), River Module Section, Programme Department
Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract
Duration: From November 2024 until the end of the project in December 2027 or earlier, depending on volunteer availability, but no less than December 2025. 

As the Armada Coordinator within the River Module for the World Scout Jamboree 2027, you will facilitate an exceptional international experience for participants arriving via yacht armadas from different countries. This role includes both programme development and logistical coordination with a harbour near Sobieszewo, ensuring that participants can safely and efficiently dock their yachts and engage in cultural exchange programmes.

What you should expect

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate the armada of yachts arriving from various countries, providing both organisational and legal support. 
  • Develop an exciting programme for armada participants, including crew exchanges and other activities. 
  • Establish safe and cooperative relationships with a nearby harbour to ensure a welcoming and functional docking space for the Armada during the Jamboree. 
  • Collaborate remotely with yacht groups and international crews, ensuring smooth communication and coordination before the event. 
  • Ensure compliance with local maritime laws and regulations concerning sailing on Polish territorial waters.

Background Experience: 

  • Proven team management experience, ideally at a Scout District level or higher. 
  • Experience in organising large-scale regional or national events, particularly involving water activities. 
  • Track record in developing event programmes that engage participants in meaningful and educational ways. 
  • Interest and experience in water activities, global education, and the sea scout programme. 

Formal Requirements 

This position is open only to candidates from Poland. Applicants from Poland should meet the following requirements: 

  • Active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP). 
  • Completed leader’s service in the previous year, with an endorsement from a District or Regional Commissioner. 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
