Job title: Technical Expert, Faith and Beliefs Zone Section, Programme Department
Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract
Duration: From November 2024 until the end of the project in December 2027 or earlier, depending on volunteer availability, but no less than December 2025. 

The Faith and Beliefs Zone will contribute towards achieving key educational objectives, such as self-reflection, collaboration across generations, cultures, and religions, and promoting peace through partnerships with various social actors.  

What you should expect

Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of the Faith and Beliefs Zone activities at the World Scout Jamboree. 
  • Create a reflective and inclusive space for participants to explore life values, goals, and engage in spiritual or interfaith experiences. 
  • Ensure alignment of activities with the overall objectives of the Jamboree and participant age appropriateness. 
  • Collaborate with suppliers to procure necessary equipment and cooperate with allies such as social actors, public institutions, and religious communities. 
  • Train and guide volunteers in their roles, ensuring safety procedures are followed. 
  • Manage the programme volunteers during the event to ensure safety regulations, solve emerging issues, and provide an enjoyable and educational experience. 
  • More specifically, the following responsibilities will be distributed amongst the Faith and Beliefs Zone Team: 
    • Chaplain Liaison 
    • Shared Prayer Space 
    • IST Manager 
    • Programme 
    • Communication/Promotion 

Commitments: 

  • Attend a minimum of one online meeting per month in 2025 and 2026, with the possibility of more frequent online meetings in 2027. These meetings will be scheduled during European hours (evenings and weekends). 
  • Availability for one in-person weekend meeting per year in Poland. 

Applicant Profile

Knowledge and skills: 

  • High level of competence in team management, preferably at least at the regional level. 
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with both volunteers and professional staff. 
  • Emotional intelligence and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment. 
  • Self-motivation and proactive attitude, along with excellent organisational skills. 

 

Background Experience: 

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team, with a focus on achieving set objectives. 
  • Experience in organizing major regional or national Scout or community events. 
  • Proven ability in developing programmes for large-scale events. 
  • Expertise in spiritual development within the context of Scout programmes. 
  • Participation in international Scout events (e.g. patrol leader or IST) is an added advantage.

Applicants from Poland should meet the following requirements: 

  • Active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP). 
  • Completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner. 
  • Ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English. 

 

Applicants from abroad should meet the following requirements: 

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). 
  • A favourable opinion from the International Commissioner (with consultation of the National Spiritual/Faith and Beliefs team, when relevant). 
  • Ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English.
